Connected Device

8. Place the headband on your head, ensure the volume is turned up, and tap "Start Session."
* After connecting to the headband once, all you will need to do going forward is turn on your Muse headband and it will automatically connect to our app.

If it doesn't seem to be working, try force closing all applications and then restarting your phone or tablet. Thereafter turn off your Muse headband and start the above process again.

If you are still having Bluetooth issues, please enable Bluetooth and try a session in “Airplane Mode” (which temporarily disconnects you from wifi and cellular data) and advise if you are able to connect. You will need to reenable your Bluetooth. If you are successful and able to complete a meditation session while in Airplane Mode, after the completion of your session, please turn off Airplane Mode to reconnect to wifi or cellular data. Please ensure you then reopen the Muse app when connected, to sync your session data to our servers. This will ensure your streaks, awards, and challenges are maintained.

If you at still unable to connect it could be that you are using an incompatible phone or tablet. Please tap here to view our compatibility list.

If your phone is compatible, but you are still having issues you can uninstall and reinstall the Muse app and try the above steps again or contact our Customer Care team directly for further support.

The following instructions are specific to Muse 2. If your Muse does not look like the above image, please tap here to get instructions specific to your Muse model.

Note for Android Users
If you are using an Android device or tablet, please ensure your Location Services are enabled. Unfortunately, Google's recent updates to Android require Bluetooth LE devices to access a user's location. This change forces us to ask for location permissions in the Muse application. For more information please click Why does the android app ask for my location?

Note for Apple (iOS) users
With iOS 13, Apple requires that you allow your Bluetooth settings within the Muse app. Please confirm that your Bluetooth settings within the Muse app are turned on. Tap here for more information.

Muse cannot be paired or used while it is plugged in and charging. It is also important to have the phone or tablet you Muse with kept in close proximity to the right of you, as it may also help improve Bluetooth connectivity. It is also important to ensure you are using the most up-to-date version of the Muse app. Tap here to visit your app store to see if there is a more up-to-date version of the Muse app.

If you are using wireless Bluetooth headphones or Apple AirPods for your Muse sessions, it is important you pair the headphones first in your phone or tablet's Bluetooth settings before starting a Muse session. Conversely, you do not need to manually pair your Muse 2 headband through your phone or tablet's Bluetooth settings. Instead, the Muse app connects to the Muse headband directly.
