How do I connect to my Original Muse and start my first session?
1. Download the Muse app on the phone or tablet you plan on using Muse with.
2. Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet. This can be done by going to your device's Settings app > Bluetooth > On.
* For this model of Muse you do not need to manually pair the headband through your device's Bluetooth settings. Muse connects directly with the Muse app.
Important Note for Android users:
If you are using an Android device or tablet, please ensure your Location service is enabled. Unfortunately, Google's recent updates to Android require Bluetooth LE devices to access a user's location. This change forces us to ask for location permissions in the Muse application. For more information please tap here.
Important Note for iOS (Apple) users:
With iOS 13, Apple now requires you to confirm you approve of any apps accessing your phone or tablet's Bluetooth. Please tap here for more information.
If you are using wireless Bluetooth headphones or Apple AirPods for your Muse sessions, it is important you pair the headphones first before starting a Muse session and connecting the Muse headband to the Muse app.
3. Turn on your headband by pressing the power button once. The LED lights should go into a cascading motion.
4. Open the Muse app on your phone or tablet.
Please ensure your Muse app is not set to Timer Meditation. Timer Meditation is a non-headband experience, simply timing your meditation without using a Muse headband. Tap on the Muse Mind Meditation icon if you would like to complete a session with your Muse.
5. On the 'Meditate' screen, tap the circle in the top left corner.
6. Double check that your Muse is on with the light scanning up and down and wait for it to appear on the 'Searching for Muse Device' screen. Tap on it to connect.
7. Place the headband on your head. For best results, it is important that the Muse fits your head properly and passes Signal Quality check effectively.
8. Ensure your phone or tablet volume is turned up and tap 'Start Session'.
We also recommend having your phone or tablet rest close to the right side of your body, as this may help improve the Bluetooth signal strength. If it doesn't seem to be working, please try force closing all applications, turning off your headband and starting again.
